Fountain County, Indiana
The Fountain County Bridge Inspection & Inventory project included the routine re-inspection of all Fountain County bridges – 142 bridges in all, performed in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (23 CFR 650C), and; current editions of Recording and Coding Guide for the Structure Inventory and Appraisal of the Nation’s Bridges, The Manual for Bridge Evaluation with interims including the “Final Rule,” and the Indiana Bridge Inspection Manual.
This re-inspection and inventory included:
- 7 Concrete Slab Bridges
- 6 Concrete Girder/Beam Bridges (1 Historically Select/1 Non-Select)
- 6 Concrete Arches (1 Historically Select/2 Non-Select)
- 1 Concrete Culverts/2 Metal Culverts
- 84 Precast Concrete Beams (Box & I)
- 18 Steel Beam/Girder Bridges
- 11 Steel Truss Bridges - Fracture Critical (4 Historically Select/5 Non-Select)
- 6 Railroad Flatcars - Fracture Critical
- 1 Timber Truss Covered Bridge (Historically Select)
Additionally, specific information reports were produced and provided for 17 Fracture Critical bridges. Separate color-coded maps clearly identifying locations for Ten-year bridge replacement projects and bridge rehab and repair projects were included as part of delivery.
