I-69 INTERSTATE BRIDGE REHABILITATION

Bridge Rehabilitation


 

As a Prime Consultant, VS Engineering provided design services for the rehabilitation of four (4) twin bridges on I-69 as part of an interstate pavement rehabilitation project from SR 332 to SR 28 in Delaware County. Bridge design included:


  • Bridge File I69-39-4744JD & B over Pleasant Run Creek
    Deck Reconstruction and Widening of the Continuous Reinforced Concrete Slab bridges. Bridge railing was updated and replaced. Expansion joints were replaced. Interior wall piers and spread footings were widened. Pile end bents were widened and wingwalls reconstructed. R.C. approach slabs were replaced.

  • Bridge File I69-40-4746JD & B over Killbuck Creek
    Deck Reconstruction and Overlay of the Continuous Variable Depth Reinforced Concrete Girder bridges. Ends of deck slab, end diaphragms and end bent mudwalls and tops of caps were reconstructed as steel bearing assemblies were replaced with new elastomeric bearings. Bridge railing was replaced. New approach slabs tied into the reconstructed bridge deck.
  • Bridge File I69-40-2304C over Norfolk & Southern Railroad
    Partial Superstructure Replacement and Bridge Deck Overlay of the Composite Continuous Steel Beam and R.C. Girder bridges. The R.C. girder superstructure and deck slab in Span A was removed and replaced with a new steel I-beam superstructure. The remainder of the bridge deck was repaired and overlayed. End Bent No. 1 was reconstructed atop existing piles. The Pier No. 2 cap was reconstructed. The end of deck slab, end diaphragm and end bent mudwall and top of cap was reconstructed at Bent No. 4. Expansion joints were replaced. Bridge railing was updated and replaced. New R.C. approach slabs were constructed with new terminal joints.
  • Bridge File I69-43-4748C over SR 28
    Partial Superstructure Replacement and Bridge Deck Overlay of the Composite Continuous Steel Beam bridges. Portions of the steel I-beam superstructure and the entire bridge deck were replaced. Expansion joints were replaced. Bridge railing was replaced. New R.C. approach slabs were constructed with new terminal joints.
