VS provided a complete roadway geometric design per current INDOT Standards including project survey, hydrologic and hydraulics analysis, erosion control scheme, permit compliance, right-of-way engineering, and maintenance of traffic scheme for roadway rehabilitation of SR 256 in Scott County, Indiana. The improvement was needed to narrow travel lanes and lack of sidewalks. The purpose of this project was to improve the traffic flow/mobility, pavement condition, and safety to pedestrians by revising roadway geometric and roadside features per current INDOT standards. The proposed improvements included 2-12' wide lanes with combined concrete curb and gutter section, concrete sidewalk, four intersection improvements, driveway reconstruction, enclosed storm sewers, culvert replacement, pavement resurfacing, curb ramps for handicap accessibility, signage modifications, pavements markings, and roadside safety features.
Austin to SR 203:
VS provided a complete roadway design, including project survey, hydrologic and hydraulics analysis, erosion control scheme, permit compliance, right-of-way engineering, and maintenance of traffic scheme for 5-mile roadway/bridge/small structure rehabilitation, including HMA Overlay and full depth roadway replacement of SR 256 from the eastern City limits of Austin to 1200 feet east of SR 203 in Scott County, Indiana. The need for the improvement is primarily due to narrow travel lanes and lack of shoulder widths. The purpose of this project is to improve the traffic flow/mobility, pavement condition, and safety to motorist by improving roadway geometric and roadside features. The improvements included 2-12' wide lanes with 6 ft. usable shoulder width, correct HSSD and VSSD issues, realignment of SR 256 to reduce impact to Austin cemetery, MSE wall and modular block construction to reduce RW impact and to reduce impact to historic property, construction of passing blisters and exclusive left turn lanes to reduce crashes, intersections improvement, driveways reconstruction, 1 bridge replacement, 20 culvert replacements, pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, signage and signal flasher modifications, pavements markings, and roadside safety features.
