VS Engineering served as a subconsultant on the Chestnut Street Sewer Relocation Project where our responsibilities included Maintenance of Traffic, Surface Restoration and Stormwater Management.
As part of the stormwater design, VS utilized low-impact design elements such that 6 acres of contributing drainage area and over 250,000 gallons of stormwater (for a 2-inch rain event) were redirected from Evansville's combined sewer system and into underlying soils.
To accomplish this, VS utilized pervious concrete pavers within parking lanes and rain gardens within intersections to transmit stormwater to a trench located within Cherry Street that reached Ohio River sands that were capable of infiltrating 6+ in/hr.
