VS Engineering (VS) provided the City of Fort Wayne with field survey and design services to address stormwater drainage issues within the Mardego Hills Addition, located on the northwest side of Fort Wayne. The project conditions included chip and seal road surface with unimproved (no curb and gutters) roadways. Sub-par drainage, ditches/swales and undersized or nonfunctioning culvert pipes existed under resident driveways. In several locations, long term standing water prevented any grass from growing.

We conducted and/or participated in several public information or private meetings with the residents of the affected properties. The project included the design of nearly 5500 linear feet of 18”, 15”, and 12” high density polyethylene pipe and 60 drainage structures. Also included in this project was the design of two (2) post-construction stormwater treatment structures. The project included many roadway patches, and coordination with the City of Fort Wayne’s Street Department to resurface the roadways after construction.
